Private Desert & Adventure Experience

Doha Desert Safari with Dune Buggy Experience

Qatar Desert & Inland Sea

OVERVIEW

Doha Desert Safari with Dune Buggy

For the most hands-on way to take on Qatar’s desert, this five-hour private safari adds a dune buggy experience to the classic combination of camel riding, dune bashing, sandboarding and the Inland Sea.

The day begins at a camel base camp with a traditional ride through the desert, connecting you to an activity tied closely to Qatar’s heritage before the adventure ramps up. From there, you’ll get behind the wheel of a purpose-built off-road buggy to tackle designated desert terrain yourself, followed by a 4×4 dune bashing drive that lets you experience the dunes from the passenger seat instead — two genuinely different ways to take in the same landscape. Sandboarding and multiple photography stops are built in along the way, before the safari finishes at Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, where Qatar’s dunes meet the Arabian Gulf. It’s traditional desert culture, off-road adventure and one of the country’s most distinctive landscapes, all in one five-hour experience.

Itinerary Highlights

01

Camel Base Camp & Camel Ride

Begin at a desert camel base camp with a traditional camel ride through the surrounding dunes — a relaxed, photo-friendly introduction to the day, and a direct link to a tradition that shaped life across the Arabian Peninsula long before engines arrived in the desert.

02

Dune Buggy Experience

Get behind the wheel of a dune buggy and take on the desert from a genuinely different angle — driving designated terrain yourself rather than riding along. It’s the most active, adventure-focused part of the safari, conducted according to the operator’s designated route and safety requirements.

The exact buggy model, riding duration and passenger configuration can vary depending on availability and the package selected.

03

Dune Bashing Adventure

From there, an experienced desert driver takes over for a 4×4 dune bashing drive across Qatar’s rolling dunes. Paired with the dune buggy, it gives you two distinct perspectives on the same desert — one from behind the wheel, the other from the passenger seat of a skilled driver navigating the terrain.

04

Sandboarding

At selected dunes, there’s time to try sandboarding, sliding down the slopes for a more physical, hands-on way to experience the landscape, adjusted to suit the group’s comfort and the day’s conditions.

05

Multiple Desert Photo Stops

Throughout the safari, your guide will stop at scenic viewpoints to capture the changing shapes of the dunes and the wider desert landscape, along with memorable moments from the buggy and camel ride.

Exact locations and the number of stops can vary depending on route, weather and time available.

06

Inland Sea — Khor Al Adaid

The safari closes at Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, where golden dunes meet the Arabian Gulf in one of Qatar’s most distinctive natural landscapes.

Spend time here taking in the scenery and photographing the view before the return journey begins.
