Private Desert & Adventure Experience

Doha Desert Safari

Qatar Desert & Inland Sea

OVERVIEW

Doha Desert Safari

Leave the city behind and head south, where Qatar’s landscape turns into rolling dunes, open desert and, eventually, a place where the sea reaches deep into the sand. This private four-hour safari combines traditional camel riding, 4×4 dune bashing, sandboarding and a visit to the Inland Sea — a genuinely different side of Qatar from anything the capital has to offer.

The day begins at a camel base camp with a traditional ride across the desert, before the real adventure starts: a 4×4 dune bashing drive across Qatar’s shifting sand dunes, with stops along the way for sandboarding and photography at some of the desert’s best viewpoints. The journey finishes at Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, where towering dunes rise directly around a lagoon connected to the Arabian Gulf — one of the most distinctive landscapes anywhere in the country. In four hours, this safari brings together heritage, adventure and a landscape genuinely unlike anything else in Qatar.

Itinerary Highlights

01

Camel Base Camp & Camel Ride

Begin at a desert camel base camp, where a traditional camel ride offers a first taste of the desert and a direct connection to a way of life that shaped the Arabian Peninsula for centuries. It’s a relaxed, photo-friendly start to the day, with the ride’s exact duration depending on operating conditions and the overall itinerary.

02

Dune Bashing Adventure

From the camel camp, the real adventure begins — a 4×4 dune bashing drive across Qatar’s rolling sand dunes, as the vehicle climbs, dips and navigates the constantly shifting desert terrain. It’s the safari’s main adrenaline highlight, and a completely different way to experience the scale of the desert than looking at it from a distance.

03

Sandboarding

At selected points along the route, there’s time to try sandboarding — sliding down the dunes on a board for a different, more physical way to engage with the landscape. The activity is adjusted to suit the group’s comfort and the conditions on the day.

04

Multiple Desert Photo Stops

Throughout the safari, your guide will stop at some of the desert’s best viewpoints for photography — the dunes change character constantly depending on the light and the angle, and these stops give you time to properly capture the scale of the landscape rather than catching it through a moving window. Exact locations and the number of stops can vary depending on weather, route and time available.

05

Inland Sea — Khor Al Adaid

The safari’s final stop is Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, where golden dunes rise directly around a lagoon connected to the Arabian Gulf — a genuinely striking meeting point between desert and sea found almost nowhere else in the world. Spend time here taking in the view and photographing the landscape before the return journey begins.
